we’re an hour away from the start of the 080808 UpStage Festival. i’ve uploaded the last-minute media, done a restart, & checked my email – seems there are no last-minute panics (yet) … in typical cyberformance fashion we’ve had numerous interesting technical gremlins in the last days, but everyone has been very patient & persistent, & douglas has worked miracles. i’ve just about gone insane over the time zones – i’m sure there will be at least one mistake still in the schedule but i’ve done my best. the shows are looking really great; we have some experienced cyberformers on board – antoinette lafarge & marlena corcoran from the plaintext players who’ve been doing this kind of stuff for years, plus several who presented shows at 070707. there are many who are making their first shows in UpStage, including some of our youngest performers – children in belgrade & in brisbane. the new audio feature has added a big dimension to what we can do in UpStage, & as usual people have been quite experimental with it. there are also fantastic graphics and live drawing. the range of content is also really diverse. check out the shows and the programme for times. all i have left to do now is make the stage links live on the web site … & now it’s only 50 minutes until kick-off so best i finsh my cup of tea & get on with it!
