festival hopping

i am sitting on the stairs at nuovo cinema l’aquila in rome, watching the send message dialogue of my email client trying & trying & trying to push out the emails … without success. wireless internet seems to be unpredictable in rome. last night at the hostel it worked fine for a couple of hours but this morning it was completely not working at all. at first here at the venue it seemed good but now it’s very patchy …

i’m at the live performers meeting, a huge gathering of about 500 artists who are mostly VJs & DJs, so it’s quite a different scene from the theatre or digital arts or open source events that i’m normally frequenting. however there are lots of interesting people here, & some of them are working with open source software. it’s a complete contrast to my experience at LiWoLi last week (which i blogged about here), where i was staying two minutes walk from the venue & while the programme was full, it was possible to see nearly everything. here, the hostel i’m staying at is about an hour’s journey by bus, train & tram away from the venue, & there are almost 500 artists presenting & performing over 4 days.
