{"id":1251,"date":"2022-05-17T15:13:02","date_gmt":"2022-05-17T15:13:02","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.creative-catalyst.com\/expect\/?p=1251"},"modified":"2022-05-17T15:13:02","modified_gmt":"2022-05-17T15:13:02","slug":"transit-and-transition","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.creative-catalyst.com\/expect\/transit-and-transition\/","title":{"rendered":"Transit and Transition"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>June is shaping up to be a busy month: the first two weeks I will be in Denmark at the 10th <a href=\"https:\/\/transitforum.dk\/festivals\/transit-10-the-splendour-of-the-ages\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Transit Festival<\/a>, one of the main Magdalena events; and a week later I&#8217;ll be in Berlin at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.disruptionlab.org\/transitioning\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Transitioning<\/a> &#8211; a conference on the art, politics and technologies of gender change.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-1252 size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/www.creative-catalyst.com\/expect\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/Transit2022_poster-291x300.jpg\" alt=\"Transit Festival 2022\" width=\"291\" height=\"300\" \/>At Transit, I&#8217;ll be working with Sara Larsdotter Hallquist from <a href=\"https:\/\/teaterinterakt.se\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Teater InterAkt<\/a> on another mirror installation, this time incorporating themes, research and ideas from <a href=\"https:\/\/mobilise-demobilise.eu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>Mobilise\/Demobilise<\/em><\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.magdalenamuenchen.de\/next-moves\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>Next Moves<\/em><\/a>. It will be a similar format to the installation I created for InterAkt&#8217;s performance <em>Ingen fr\u00e5gar<\/em> (Nobody Asked) in 2019, which we also presented at the Transit festival that year &#8211; continuing the development of the mirror installation concept that began in Graz in 2010 with Eva Ursprung and was first presented at Transit in 2016 with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.creative-catalyst.com\/herlightstretches\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>her light stretches<\/em><\/a>.\u00a0I am really enjoying this artistic recycling and combining, bringing the work of multiple projects and people together. Thematically this time we are turning the focus of the mobilise-demobilise theme towards military mobilisations and displacements.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-1253 alignleft\" src=\"http:\/\/www.creative-catalyst.com\/expect\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/Transitioning-300x300.png\" alt=\"Transitioning Conference 2022\" width=\"300\" height=\"300\" \/>The Transitioning conference has invited a diverse group of speakers and performers to address the complexities of gender transition. I&#8217;ve been asked to be part of a panel for a Q&amp;A following a screening of videos from <a href=\"http:\/\/dianetorr.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Diane Torr<\/a>&#8216;s early archive.
