After studying Graphic Design at the Institute of Art Sivio DAmico, Antonella graduated in Scenography at the Academy of Art of Rome, Italy in 1985. From 1983, she began to collaborate with theatre companies in Rome, architecture studios and magazines. Since then, her professional work in the field of performing arts, painting and graphic design has been developing in parallel. She is the co-founder of Teatret OM (1989) for whom she did set design, costume, lighting design and graphic publication until 2002. She has collaborated on productions with: Dah Teatar Research Centre from 1995 in various productions, (Serbia and Montenegro); Odin Teatret, Musikdramatisk Teater and Vindenes Bro (Denmark). In 1998 she was introduced to Icon Painting through studies with a private tutor. With a background in theatre as a writer, producer and director, and a career in the internet and digital arts industry, it was only a matter of time before Helen began to explore the creative potential of the internet as an artistic medium. Since 2000, she has been experimenting in cyberformance - using the internet to bring remote performers together in live performance. She has worked with Desktop Theater and since 2002 with Avatar Body Collision, addressing questions such as "how is technology changing our definition of theatre?" and "what role does cyberformance have in theatre?". She has been actively involved in the Magdalena Project since 1997, fulfilling the role of Web Queen since 1999. She's had three of her own plays professionally produced in New Zealand and currently divides her time between New Zealand and Europe. http://www.creative-catalyst.com Vesna Tokin was born in Vrsac, Serbia in 1969 and graduated from the painting department of the Academy of Fine Arts in1994. She is engaged in painting, multimedia projects and video art. In 1997 she received the prize for the best experimental film at the 44the Festival of Short and Documentary Film, Belgrade, Serbia, and since then her films have been presented at more than fifteen festivals in Europe. The scope of her work encompasses visual poetry, experimental film and documentary films addressing topical issues. She is one of the founders of group NANDI - Art and Research station. Rita Superbi began her professional career as an actress in 1979, studying under the direction of several theatre masters and theatre companies involved in experimental theatre. In 1983 together with fellow actors, she founded the 'Abraxa Teatro' company and remained until 1994, during which time she participated in several shows, theatre workshops and conferences, international festivals, exhibitions and theatrical meetings, etc., while collaborating with theatres, cultural institutes, universities, etc. In 1994 founded 'Taiko Do', devoting herself fully to her work on Japanese drum techniques. She is now forming a new group called 'Taiko', with whom she plans to expand her own research by studying the different possibilities within Japanese percussion, along with her more varied work with actors, musicians, singers, dancers, martial arts schools, etc.
Dah Theatre Research Centre: Dah Theatre was formed in June 1991 out of the need for profound experimental work. In 1993 Dah Theatre enlarged its activities by forming the Theatre Research Centre with an ongoing program of workshops, lectures, seminars, guest performances and festivals. The work of the Centre is geared toward a constant exchange of knowledge, experience and ideas among artists and theatre professionals from different theatrical and national traditions. Nandi - Art and Research Station is a nongovermental organisation whose aim is to promote human rights through different media, especially video-art, documentary film and Internet; to realise different projects dealing with civil society, transition, social change, tradition and modernity; to organise independently or in cooperation with other groups and organizations workshops, seminars, lectures, exhibitions, promotive printed materials; to improve awareness and protection of the Earth. Omma Studio Theatre is a non-governmental theatre company whose work is focused on reinterpretation of the ancient Greek dramas. They combine tradition and modern physical theatre research. Omma Studio Laboratory is the only theatre school for actors in Crete with a regular program of traditional and modern acting techniques (including dance, voice). Tiyatro Boyali Kus (Theatre Painted Bird) was established by Zeynep Kaçar and Jale Karabekir in Istanbul, Turkey. The aim of the group is to present plays written by them, from a feminist perspective. The group focuses on issues such as the oppression and invisibility of women. |
